There are  endless amounts of possibilities when it comes to planters. All you have to do is type “herb planter” into Pinterest and you are presented with infinite amazing ideas. I really like the look of rustic wood and since building a few outdoor planters with wood scraps from Habitat for Humanity Restore last season figured it would be fun to build some more! We ended up using an old bed frame………….

First job was to dismantle and take out all the old staples and nails to get the wood ready to use. 20130122-213307.jpg

We decided to build smaller herb boxes that could be kept indoors. We used a chop saw to cut the pieces and were even able to re-use the nails. 20130123-181821.jpg20130123-211722.jpg

Overall a really simple and fun project, thinking of turining it in to a cottage industry!20130123-211753.jpg

One Response to Building herb planters out of an old bed frame

  1. Great planter – I’ve made window troughs before and now it looks like I’ll have to make one of these to go on one of my bits of concrete. A great way to make concrete grow!
